Pedals ‘n Petals with Deborah Foley | Horticulture Guided Ride

Stop and smell the flowers. Literally.

As an avid mountain biker and plant lover, bike instructor Deborah Foley finds that knowledge and awareness of the vegetation she rides through adds to the enjoyment and experience on the trails. To her, this is riding beyond fitness and adrenaline!

In bike season, scenery at the Canmore Nordic Centre changes weekly with new vegetation, layers of green, flowers that emerge and scents in the air. Pedals ‘n Petals offers riders of all ages a new way to experience the slower side of mountain biking with an increased appreciation of the area’s foliage. Enjoy lessons in plant identification, habitat range, the plant’s role in wildlife as a food source or nesting material, medicinal use, traditional Indigenous use, endangered plant species, foraging regulations, and respectful, sustainable foraging tips.

Embark on this unique biking experience, where stopping for a break is an opportunity to learn. Perfect for curious minds who like to explore nature. Families are welcome.

Ride easy double- and single-track trails and explore the flora of the Canadian Rockies.
